Downeast Community Partners’ backpack program wants to welcome Washington and Hancock county children back to school. Free backpacks with school supplies are being distributed to both counties on a first contact first served basis please call

We know back to school is expensive. Contact us today to receive a backpack and school supplies. No income restrictions-anyone can participate. This program is for all students, aged pre-K to high school seniors, whether taught at home or in public/private school. Please call Sharrie at 207-610-5908 to learn more.

Our backpack program operates with generous donations from both counties. The program functions out of the Ellsworth, Bucksport Road office. COVID-19 has created some challenges, but the program will continue using creative and safe measures. All children should have the necessary tools to gain success. It doesn’t matter if your school takes place at home or in a public location.
