Lifespan Opportunities in Washington and Hancock Counties

Message from the Executive Director

Wed, Mar 25th, 2020

by DCP Staff

I would like to start by thanking all of DCP’s staff for their resilience and commitment to service since the start of the COVID-19 crisis. Because of this, we have been able to continue providing services to the vulnerable populations we serve in a manner that keeps them connected and our employees safe.

In the Governors list of essential services are several services that we offer, including transportation and childcare. We reached out to the Governor’s office for clarification on the status of community action agencies in this most recent shut down of all non-essential public facing businesses. The response from the Governor’s office is that for the time being, we should operate as we have been, following the CDC guidelines for social distancing.

As a result of this guidance, and the knowledge that people in our communities are depending on us to meet their basic and emerging needs, until further notice we will continue operating and following CDC guidelines. This means that some of our usual method of service delivery will be changed, but we are here and able to help in many ways.

If you have specific questions about a program that we offer, or a need that you have, please call us at 664-2424. Please note that our administrative offices are closed to the public.  Some programs are still providing in person services to clients, so please call before you come.

We look forward to helping you.
