Lifespan Opportunities in Washington and Hancock Counties

Home based learning with DCP

Home based learning with DCP

Home based learning (sometimes called remote learning) is designed to meet the growing needs and demands of families who cannot commit to having their children in an actual center all or part of the time during this period.

Parents receive on-going support and materials that provide a framework for learning at home. Downeast Community Partner's teaching staff are here to guide and support you as your child grows and develops.

We do this by having teachers learn about you and your child’s daily routines and interests and which help us identify ways to turn those into learning moments.

We can also give you new ideas as your child develops more skills. We will partner in sharing observations and planning activities that help your child to learn new things through your daily activities.

Teachers also complete screenings and on-going assessments that will be shared with you so we can celebrate your child’s growth and together plan the next steps.

Our teaching staff are highly qualified and experienced in meeting the needs of all children and their families.  They would love to meet and support you and your child as we all move through this period of doing things differently.

This service is provided throughout Hancock and Washington Counties. You can expect weekly check-ins via phone, text, email and through the use of an app which can easily be downloaded to any phone, computer, or tablet. If you do not have these tools, DCP staff will work to find an alternate means of connection.

In addition, home based Head Start families receive services to support health, nutrition, and family well-being along with connections to community resources.

If you have questions or need an enrollment application, call the main enrollment office at (207) 610-5187.
