Location: Washington and Hancock counties

This is a contracted professional position providing social emotional mental health consultation in Early Head Start and Head Start sites.

The primary population is young children ages six weeks to age five, their teachers and caregivers.

The person in this position functions with a great deal of professional independence under the general guidance and supervision of the EHS/HS Director with additional support from the Education and Disability Managers.

Must demonstrate a collaborative approach to all services involving staff, parents, and other providers as a team.

Responsibilities include: Providing programmatic consultation to staff regarding social emotional development, individual consultation with a child centered approach for those children exhibiting behavioral challenges or social emotional delays, in-service MH professional development, and hands on support and strategies to teachers in the classroom
 

EARLY CHILDHOOD MENTAL HEALTH CONSULTANT QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or Psychology; Master’s Degree (MA/MSW) in Social Work, Psychology, or other related field of study preferred.
  • State of Maine licensure as an LLMSW, LMSW or LLP preferred
    Minimum of 2 years of post-degree experience working with infants and young children and families.
  • Experience in early care and education settings preferred.

Location: Ellsworth

Janitorial position for the Ellsworth Early Care and Education Center located at 18 Avery Lane, Ellsworth. This is a year round position, 15 hours per week. Janitorial duties include cleaning the entire childcare center area of the building including classrooms, bathrooms, hallways, ramps, and entryways. Cleaning materials provided. Hours of cleaning are in the evening after childcare has closed for the day.

Location: Hancock and Washington counties

We are seeking part-time drivers for Hancock and Washington counties. We provide transportation to low-income, elderly, as well as the general public. Our vehicles are easy to operate and require no special license, just a good driving record and a desire to provide safe and pleasant transportation to the people we serve. Flexible schedules available.

Candidate must have clean driving record, pass criminal and child protective background checks, meet drug and alcohol testing requirements, and not have an active record on the System for Award Management (SAM) website.

Responsibilities include:

Working with individuals and families who are economically vulnerable to provide assistance and support in managing the challenges they are experiencing.  The position will offer support in an effort to empower families to achieve the growth and change they seek.  It will include assisting participants working on many different areas of life depending on the needs.  The position is based in Washington County and includes extensive travel throughout the county.

Required skills/duties include:

  • A strong desire to help families, meet them where they are at, and assist in barrier removal
  • Coach the family/individual to develop skills in independent problem solving and functioning and discover their strengths, hopes, dreams, and priorities. 
  • The ability to work independently as well as part of a team

Education/Experience required:

  • The successful candidate will have a 4 year degree in Social Work or a related field

The Head Start provider for Hancock and Washington counties is seeking enthusiastic substitutes for our Early Childhood Programs in Calais, Ellsworth, and Machias.

Database Specialist

Job Summary    
Responsible for database management services in agency-wide EmpowOr database and center-based Early Care and Education programs to ensure compliance with Head Start and other standards, directly through data review, data analysis and reporting.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  • Performs data entry as needed.
  • Ensures security of data and recommends improvements in security protocols.
  • Monitors data systems input for ChildPlus and EmpowOR databases.
  • Ensures data integrity through testing and monitoring/authenticating procedures.
  • Analyzes and interprets data, including but not limited to outcomes data, enrollment information, attendance and provision of services, and demographic data of participants.
  • Produces reports for Head Start Director, Financial Analyst and others as requested.
  • Gains and maintains understanding of the operations of both databases in order to make minor adjustments as needed to setups and reporting functions.
  • Seeks to represent data in ways that are relevant and meaningful to program and management staff.
  • Provides in-service trainings, technical assistance and orientation to staff on ChildPlus and EmpowOr, remotely or in-person.
  • Coordinates and completes submission of monthly, quarterly, and annual reports as requested.
  • Along with Financial Analyst, represents DCP on statewide user’s groups.
  • Creates manuals for database use as requested.

Qualifications

Required education/training/experience: 

  • High School Diploma
  • 3 years office experience
  • Experience with a variety of computer information systems

Downeast Community Partners (DCP) is seeking an Executive Director to serve as its Chief Executive Officer.

DCP is a nonprofit organization, which currently serves Hancock and Washington counties of Maine, focusing on helping low-income, and at-risk residents thrive.

DCP is one of 10 Maine Community Action Programs (MeCAP) dedicated to improving the quality of life of Maine people by advocating for, promoting and supporting the work of the Maine community action agencies.

The Executive Director of DCP is responsible, subject to the Board’s direction and control for:

·        Oversight of the management operations and advancement of the strategic direction of the Agency.

·        Implementation of goals and policies of the Agency.

·        Reporting on and advising the Board and its committees concerning the affairs and activities of the Agency.

Interested candidates should have an understanding of low-income population needs, including family and community challenges, housing development, energy assistance, transportation, and early care and education initiatives. Candidates will have demonstrated relationship building in regional, statewide or grant-funded organizations. It is expected that the successful candidate will bring a creative perspective to the position to foster growth.

Required Education, Experience/Knowledge: 

·        A bachelor’s degree, or the equivalent in years and experience, in addition to five or more years nonprofit senior management experience. A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is preferred.

·        Ability to effectively communicate and model the organization’s mission to donors, volunteers and the overall community.

·        Demonstrated ability to oversee and collaborate with staff.

·        A history of successfully generating new revenue streams and improving financial results. Active development and fundraising experience. Excellent donor relations skills and understanding of the funding community.

·        Strong financial management skills, including an understanding of the non-profit budget process, analysis, decision making and reporting.

Salary range is $90,000-$120,000 commensurate with skills and experience.

Infant/Toddler Caregiver for the Ellsworth Early Care & Education Program, located at 18 Avery Lane.

This is a full-time year round position.

  • The successful candidate will be responsible for developing meaningful relationships with parents and their young children that will enhance the bond between parent and child.
  • Also responsible to plan and implement, in partnership with families, a responsive curriculum and classroom environment that promotes optimal growth and development of infants and toddlers in a full-day, full-year program.
  • Must have at least 12 months experience working with infants/toddlers in a childcare facility.

Preschool Teacher

The Ellsworth ECEC center has an excellent career opportunity for those desiring to promote the growth and development of young children in a center based program.

Successful candidate will be responsible for design and implementation of a program in a center-based classroom for 3-5 year-old children in conjunction with other center staff.

This is a full-time position, 40 hours/week and 51 weeks/year.

Position available for candidates with Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field or 081 Certification, and experience working with young children.

Location: Washington County

Downeast Community Partners (DCP) is hiring a per diem RN for our Nurse Home Visiting Program in Washington County.

Responsibilities include: Direct work with mothers experiencing a high-risk, medically complicated pregnancy and infants born with medical complications, along with well-child assessment and outreach throughout our coverage area.  Successful applicant will plan, develop, and coordinate client care.  We work with hospitals, medical providers, and social service agencies to ensure necessary services are delivered.  RN will offer support and encouragement, identify potential issues, educate families on safety and risks, and contact appropriate resources and agencies in order to respond to family and client needs. 

Varied work hours are occasionally necessary, including weekends and evenings when a client crisis requires intervention. Travel outside Washington County is sometimes necessary. 

Required skills include:

Prenatal, postpartum, and pediatric experience.

The ability to work independently as well as part of a team, and have excellent time       management skills. 

 A strong desire to help families, meet them where they are at, and assist in barrier removal.

 Demonstrated strong interpersonal and communication skills. 

 

Education required:

Active RN license required (BSN preferred)

Community Health, and Nurse Bridging experience is a plus.
