Responsible for planning, managing, and evaluating the human resource programs that support agency goals and objectives.  You will oversee all human resource programs while maintaining a personnel system that is compliant with all related laws and is fair and transparent to employees. The HR Director is a member of the senior management team reporting directly to the Executive Director.

Essential Responsibilities:

·       Manages the Human Resource Division to make certain that the agency is in full compliance with all
        personnel/employee laws, rules, and regulations. Oversees all aspects of human resources,
        including employee safety, and remains vigilant for opportunities to improve and expand existing
        programs or add new, complementary programs and services.

·       Serves as a resource to management in all personnel matters and is a confidential arbiter to all
        employees.

·       Becomes knowledgeable about all DCP programs and how Human Resources can best support the
        work of each division.

·       Creates, maintains, and deepens relationships with key partners

Required Education, Experience/Knowledge: 

·       Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources and at least five years of experience working in HR in a
        complex organization.

·       Five years of experience required supervising and managing employees

·       Demonstrated strong interpersonal and reflective supervision skills.

·       Effective manager with proven skills to build relationships with staff members, to provide frequent
        and useful performance feedback, and to guide staff members in developing new skills.

·       Ability to travel throughout state and country

Location: Washington and Hancock counties

This is a contracted professional position providing social emotional mental health consultation in Early Head Start and Head Start sites. The primary population is young children ages six weeks to age five, their teachers and caregivers. The person in this position functions with a great deal of professional independence under the general guidance and supervision of the EHS/HS Director with additional support from the Education and Disability Managers. Must demonstrate a collaborative approach to all services involving staff, parents, and other providers as a team.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Providing programmatic consultation to staff regarding social emotional development
  • Individual consultation with a child centered approach for those children exhibiting behavioral challenges or social emotional delay
  • in-service MH professional development, and hands on support and strategies to teachers in the classroom

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Master’s Degree (MA/MSW) in Social Work, Psychology, or other related field of study
  • State of Maine licensure as an LLMSW, LMSW or LLP preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years of post-master’s experience working with infants and young children and families
  • Experience in early care and education settings preferred

Location: Machias

Janitorial position for the Flaherty Center located at 116 O’Brien Avenue, Machias. This is a year-round position, 10 hours per week.  Janitorial duties include cleaning the entire childcare center area of the building including classrooms, bathrooms, hallways, ramps and entryways. Cleaning materials provided. Hours of cleaning are in the evening after childcare has closed for the day.

Location: Hancock and Washington counties

We are seeking part-time drivers for Hancock and Washington counties. We provide transportation to low-income, elderly, as well as the general public. Our vehicles are easy to operate and require no special license, just a good driving record and a desire to provide safe and pleasant transportation to the people we serve. Flexible schedules available.

Candidate must have clean driving record, pass criminal and child protective background checks, meet drug and alcohol testing requirements, and not have an active record on the System for Award Management (SAM) website.

Location: Calais

Excellent career opportunity for those desiring to promote the growth and development of young children in a center based program. Successful candidate will be responsible for design and implementation of a program in a center-based classroom for 3-5 year-old children in conjunction with other center staff. This is a full-time (40 hours per week), year round position. Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field with 2 years’ experience working with young children required.

Responsibilities include:

Working with individuals and families who are economically vulnerable to provide assistance and support in managing the challenges they are experiencing.  .  The position will offer support in an effort to empower families to achieve the growth and change they seek.  It will include assisting participants working on many different areas of life depending on the needs.  The position is based in Hancock County and includes extensive travel throughout the county.

Required skills/duties include:

  •  A strong desire to help families, meet them where they are at, and assist in barrier removal
  • Coach the family/individual to develop skills in independent problem solving and functioning and discover their strengths, hopes, dreams, and priorities. 
  • The ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills including dependability, motivation, and flexibility
  • Excellent communication skills 
  • Very good time management skills

Education/Experience required:

  • The successful candidate will have a 4 year degree in Social Work or a related field
  • At least one year’s experience in human services is preferred.

The Head Start provider for Hancock and Washington counties is seeking enthusiastic substitutes for our Early Childhood Programs in Calais, Ellsworth, and Machias.
