The Ellsworth Early Care and Education Center, located on Avery Lane, is seeking an assistant preschool teacher. This is a 40-hour-per-week full year position. 

Responsibilities:

  • Assists the preschool teacher to plan and implement an early childhood education program for children in accordance with agency practices, policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for promoting school readiness, parent engagement and ensuring the health and safety of children in our care.
  • Performs under the direction of the preschool teacher to ensure program operations are carried out in a manner supportive of the agency goals and intended program outcomes. 

Education and Experience:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age and have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • One year of experience in a preschool classroom setting required

Full-time Positions w/generous benefits

DCP is seeking a Director of Early Childhood Programs. This position is responsible for all early care and education programming for children and their families, including Early Head Start, Head Start, and Child Care in a variety of settings; plus, an evening-care program supporting low-income parents attending college.  This position also manages and leads a team of experienced and highly skilled subject matter experts and center coordinators and is responsible for building strong relationships with school districts providing collaborative pre-K programming.  Responsible for the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP). 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree required in Early Childhood Education, Social Work, or Human Services or significant early childhood course work with another related degree. 
  • Five years of experience required supervising and managing Early Childhood Development programs; Head Start experience strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal and reflective supervision skills.
  • Must be able to pass background checks.

Full-time Position

Pay Range - $24.00 - $26.00 per hour

The primary purpose of this position is to provide job guidance, training and coaching support to classroom teaching staff who work in early childhood programs. The Coaches will also support, track, and advocate for disability services. The Coaches will work in classrooms to increase teachers’ knowledge, skills, and abilities in using child assessment data to connect curriculum and instruction; improve teacher/child interactions and to individualize learning to improve access and participation for the broadest range of diverse learners including children with disabilities and children from varied cultural, racial and linguistic backgrounds.  Coaches will use a repertoire of skills and strategies to provide group training support as well as on-site classroom direction and individual teacher support to observe, model, demonstrate and provide reflection and feedback to teaching staff. This position will be responsible for Work hours must be flexible. 

Experience and Skill Requirements: 

  • At least five years’ experience teaching and supervising a preschool or infant/toddler program required. Understanding and experience in teaching adults including providing consultation or coaching is desired. Must possess excellent communication and organizational skills and a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with others.
  • Must possess a desire to continue research regarding ECE and engage in learning about changing, new and emerging evidence-based approaches.
  • Must be able to work in a dynamic atmosphere and adapt to the changing needs and demands of the project. 
  • Reliable transportation is a must.

Education/Skill Requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education, early childhood special education, education leadership or related field required.
  • Must be able to pass background checks.
  • Familiarity with Head Start Performance Standards and experience with Maine Early Childhood disability services are a plus.

This is a full-time year round position.

Full-Time Position

Pay Range - $16.00 - $19.00 per hour

DCP is seeking a flexible, creative, and patient Ed Tech III to work with children in our preschool program! This position will work in collaboration with the classroom teachers and provide classroom support to children of all abilities. 

This is a 6 hour a day, 30 hour a week, academic year, benefits eligible position located at our St. Croix Early Care and Education Center on the WCCC campus.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Providing instruction or program modifications to children identified with developmental disabilities under the direction of a teacher
  • Supervising small groups of students in a center-based program.
  • Conducting one-on-one or small groups with indirect professional supervision
  • Introducing new learning, pre-planned in collaboration with a Special Education Teacher and/or Disability Services Manager.

Qualifications:

  • A current Ed Tech III certification and a criminal history check are required
  • Obtain and maintain authorization as an Educational Technician with the Maine Department of Education
  • Successful background, criminal records, fingerprinting and reference check

DCP is seeking full-time weatherization technicians to join our Housing Services team. The Weatherization Technician/Installer works as a part of the weatherization team to install measures designed to improve the energy efficiency of buildings. The Weatherization Technician/Installer performs direct service installs, including the installation of home weatherization materials minor building repairs, repairs to stop cold air infiltration, and associated record keeping.

Responsibilities:

  • Install Weatherization measures such as:
    • Window and door weather stripping
    • Door sweeps
    • Window and door caulking
    • Rim joist insulation
    • Blower door guided air sealing
    • Attic hatch insulations
    • Blown and batt insulation
    • Repair window and doors
  • Conduct work in compliance with OSHA safety procedures
  • Job site clean up
  • Minor structural repairs and carpentry work
  • Use hand tools or power tools in a prescribed, safe manner when installing materials and making repairs.

Qualifications:

  • One to three years construction experience preferred, but not required
