The DCP Early Care and Education is seeking an assistant preschool teacher for its location in Bucksport. This is a 40-hour-per-week full year position. 

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Preschool Teacher/Caregiver to plan and implement an early childhood education program for children in accordance with agency practices, policies, and procedures.
  • Promote school readiness, parent engagement and ensuring the health and safety of children in our care.
  • Perform under the direction of the Teacher/Caregiver to ensure program operations are carried out in a manner supportive of the DCP goals and intended program outcomes.

The Early Care and Education Center, located at Trenton Elementary School, is seeking an assistant preschool teacher.  The position is 40 hours per week, 40 weeks per year.  This position is responsible for planning and implementing an early childhood education program for preschool children in accordance with agency policies, procedures, and practices and for promoting school readiness, parent engagement and ensuring the health and safety of children in our care. The assistant preschool teacher performs under the direction of the Center Coordinator or Teacher III to ensure program operations are carried out in a manner supportive of DCP goals and intended program outcomes. Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor. Some evening and weekend work, travel and occasional overnight travel will be necessary.  

Education and Experience:

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • A minimum of a Child Development Associates certificate or equivalent required (may obtain within first year of employment).
  • A degree in Early Childhood Education or related field with at least 18 credits in Early Childhood required for Teacher II and III.
  • DOE 081 Certification (provisional or permanent) required for public school collaboration Teacher III.

DCP is seeking to hire an Assistant Preschool Teacher to work in the Flaherty Early Care and Education Center in Machias. This is a full-time position (40 hours per week, 51 weeks per year).

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the preschool teacher to plan and implement an early childhood education program for children in accordance with agency practices, policies, and procedures.
  • Promote school readiness, parent engagement and ensuring the health and safety of children in our care.
  • Perform under the direction of the Lead Teacher to ensure program operations are carried out in a manner supportive of the DCP goals and intended program outcomes.

Education and Experience:

  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Associate Degree in early childhood education preferred.
  • Minimum of a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or a state-awarded certificate that meets or exceeds the requirements for a CDA or are enrolled in a CDA credential program to be completed within two years of the time of hire.

DCP is seeking to hire a Director of Early Childhood Programs. This full-time position in DCP's Ellsworth office is responsible for all early care and education programming for children and their families, including Early Head Start, Head Start, and Child Care in a variety of settings; plus, an evening-care program supporting low-income parents attending college.  This position manages and leads a team of experienced and highly skilled subject matter experts and center coordinators and is responsible for building strong relationships with school districts providing collaborative pre-k programming.  This position is also responsible for the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP). 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree required in Early Childhood Education, Social Work, or Human Services or significant early childhood course work with another related degree
  • Five years of experience required supervising and managing Early Childhood Development programs; Head Start experience strongly preferred

Position:  Financial Analyst

Full-time position – 40 hours/week

Pay Range - $43,000.00 – 51,500.00/year

DCP is seeking a full-time Financial Analyst to work in its finance division located in the Bucksport Road Ellsworth office.

The Financial Analyst position provides support for the Finance Director, and Senior Leadership in accordance with established procedures.  This position works regularly with internal fiscal and programmatic staff, and Senior Leadership.  The Financial Analyst will be responsible for supporting internal financial reporting, the budget process, compliance with contractual and regulatory obligations, reporting to funders, the audit and monitoring processes, and efficient fiscal operations.

Qualifications:

  • Ability to comprehend and interpret rule, regulations, and procedures.
  • Ability to perform general mathematical computations, compute ratios, and interpret graphic information.
  • Computer proficiency, including familiarity with spreadsheet and word processing software.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively; organize, prioritize, and plan work related tasks.
  • Two years or more experience in accounting.

Downeast Community Partners has a public service opportunity available through AmeriCorps for a Food Security Coordinator VISTA Volunteer. The Food Security Coordinator will become a member of VISTA’s AmeriCorps Ending Hunger Program. They will help to build the capacity of the Downeast Community Partners’ food and nutrition initiatives. Location: Ellsworth

The Ellsworth Early Care and Education Center is seeking a Food Service Technician.  This position is responsible for the planning, coordinating, purchasing, and cooking meals and snacks for enrolled children (six weeks to 5 years) on a daily basis. Our menus, provided by our Nutrition Manager, include a wide variety of nutritious foods using recipes and input from parents. The FST also works with teaching staff to provide nutrition activities in the classroom with children and nutrition resources for families and works closely with supervisor to ensure operations are carried out in a manner supportive of the mission of DCP. Our Nutrition Manager supports our FST’s with visits, technical assistance, and resources.

The position will be 30 hours per week for 51 weeks per year (closed during one week at the end of December.)  Hours will increase to 40 hours when we re-open more classrooms. Work hours must be flexible to accommodate changing program needs.

Education and Experience:

  • Prior experience in cooking for groups, record-keeping and documentation is required. 
  • Knowledge of basic nutrition, preschool nutrition concepts and sanitation principles necessary.
  • Good math skills and excellent communication skills required. 
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

DCP is seeking to hire a full-time Housing and Heating Inspector to work out of our Ellsworth office. The person in this position is responsible for conducting onsite inspections for Housing Accessibility and Repair Program (HARP), Community Development Block Grants (CDBG), Central Heating Improvement Program (CHIP) as well as repair and replacement heating system installations, Heat Pump installations, Above Ground Storage Tank installations, and weatherization assessments at client homes.  

Qualifications:

  • Three to five years related work in the residential carpentry, energy conservation, weatherization techniques, local and state building codes.
  • Experience with project estimating in the construction trades.
  • Ability to communicate positively with a variety of people
  • Self-motivated
  • Must possess computer skills
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license insured to the State of Maine requirements and ability to travel in Washington and Hancock counties.

Required education/training:

  • High School diploma
  • Previous experience and/or training in estimating construction projects

  • BPI Certification; OSHA Training

DCP is seeking to hire full-time Housing Rehabilitation Technicians to work out of our Machias office. The Housing Rehabilitation Technician estimates and evaluates Home Repair Network projects and services, ensures work is performed within established rules and regulations, and coordinates work of contractors.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Visits client home to determine project scope
  • Oversees bid process as required for jobs
  • Ensures the work performed meets safety and quality standards
  • Visits job sites to ensure jobs are on schedule and to prevent reworks
  • Provides oral and written reports to supervisor on a weekly basis
  • Acts as intermediary between client and contractor
  • Ensures client satisfaction
  • Ensures all client files are complete and audit ready
  • Acts promptly to resolve complaints
  • Performs clerical functions for position
  • Recommends safety improvements for the workplace environment
  • Performs energy audits/inspections
  • Enters data into auditing software to prepare audit for production
  • Oversees weatherization job from audit through final inspection, ensuring all items necessary to get a job into production are completed in a timely manner
  • Reviews data to determine material and labor requirements and prepares itemized lists
  • Interprets specifications, blueprints, and job orders to workers, and assigns job to crew or contractor
  • Estimates weatherization jobs and completes appropriate paperwork
  • Updates Deferral project list as needed
  • Works closely with other auditors to ensure clients are served to the best of our ability

Infant/Toddler Caregiver for the Ellsworth Early Care & Education Program, located at 18 Avery Lane.

This is a full-time year round position.

  • The successful candidate will be responsible for developing meaningful relationships with parents and their young children that will enhance the bond between parent and child.
  • Also responsible to plan and implement, in partnership with families, a responsive curriculum and classroom environment that promotes optimal growth and development of infants and toddlers in a full-day, full-year program.
  • Must have at least 12 months experience working with infants/toddlers in a childcare facility.
  • Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 by 1/1/2022.

DCP is seeking a full-time IT Support Specialist. The Information Technology Support Specialist position will serve as the first level phone and shared email/ticketing system contact for DCP’s IT support issues for staff in general, providing Windows PC hardware, Windows OS and applications.  The IT Support Specialist will assist the IT Manager in installing, changing, and repairing minor problems of personal computer hardware and software systems.  Additionally, this position supports the IT Department’s responsibility of providing technical assistance and training system users.  This position answers staff inquiries concerning systems operation; diagnoses system hardware, software, and operator problems; and recommends or performs remedial actions to correct problems based on knowledge of system operation.

 

QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED FOR POSITION:

  • 3+ years’ experience in customer-facing help desk/desktop support troubleshooting role.
  • Excellent working knowledge of personal computers, peripherals, and printers/copiers.
  • Cellphone familiarity preferred.

THIS POSITION HAS A $250.00 SIGN-ON BONUS - TO BE PAID 90 DAYS AFTER HIRE.

DCP has a janitorial position available at the Flaherty Center—116 O’Brien Avenue, Machias. This is a year-round position, 10 hours per week permanently with another 15 hours per week temporarily.

Permanent: 10 hours of cleaning are in the evening after the Center has closed for the day.
Temporary: 15 hours are during the day when staff and children are present.

Responsibilities:

  • Cleaning the entire childcare center area of the building, including classrooms, bathrooms, hallways, ramps and entryways.
  • Cleaning materials are provided.

Location: Hancock and Washington counties

This position offers a sign on bonus of $1,000 paid in two lump sums; half after 90 days of work and the other half after 120 days of work.

Downeast Community Partners (DCP) is pleased to be a partner in an innovative, two-generation educational program for parents and children in Washington County.  Family Futures Downeast offers parents the opportunity to complete a one-year program in Family Studies at either the University of Maine Machias or Washington County Community College. DCP provides a nutritious family meal and high-quality early education services and supports for the children (age 0-8) of parents who attend the program two evenings each week.

The early education program supports healthy child development through developmentally appropriate curriculum and activities provided by a staff of trained caregivers, teachers, and food service technicians. 

DCP is also the Head Start partner to the Pre-K programs in RSU 24. While we do not supervise staff in these programs, through our partnership we support the four Pre-K classrooms with identifying Head Start eligible children, screenings, training, and educational and consultation supports.

We are seeking a Coordinator to oversee services on both college campuses and the RSU partnership.  The successful candidate will have strong leadership, supervisory, management, organizational and communication skills. A Bachelors’ Degree in Human Development, Social Services, Early Childhood Development or related field preferred.  Three years’ experience in program management, direct supervision and record keeping is required.
