The Ellsworth Early Care and Education Center, located on Avery Lane, is seeking an assistant preschool teacher. This is a 40-hour-per-week full year position. 

Responsibilities:

  • Assists the preschool teacher to plan and implement an early childhood education program for children in accordance with agency practices, policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for promoting school readiness, parent engagement and ensuring the health and safety of children in our care.

DCP is seeking a full-time Caregiver I-III to work at our Early Care and Education Center in Calais. The Caregiver I-III is responsible for planning and implementing an early childhood education program for infants and toddlers in accordance with agency policies, procedures, and practices. Responsible for promoting school readiness, parent engagement and ensuring the health and safety of children in our care. Performs under the direction of the Center Coordinator or Caregiver III to ensure program operations are carried out in a manner supportive of DCP goals and intended program outcomes. Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor. Some evening and weekend work, travel and occasional overnight travel will be necessary.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Successfully assists in the implementation of High Scope curriculum fully utilizing agency resources and feedback from content area specialists.
  • Ensures all classroom practices are developmentally appropriate and meaningful to children’s learning.
  • Tracks and plans classroom experiences utilizing data from CORAdvantage ensuring timely and complete ongoing child assessment. Content Area Domains
  • Provides a welcoming environment for parents at the center and encourages and fosters parent engagement in children’s school readiness. Works with parents to set realistic long and short term goals fostering their growth and financial independence.
  • Participates in the identification of children with disabilities. Works with Child Development Services (CDS) to develop and implement an Individual Family Service Plan/Individual Education Plan (IFSP/IEP) for identified children. Links parents of children with disabilities to community resources.
  • Works in partnership with classroom team to ensure recommendations of content area specialists, mental health consultants, and special needs providers are implemented.

 

QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED FOR POSITION:

DCP is seeking a full-time controller to work in its finance division located in the Bucksport Road Ellsworth office.

The Controller is responsible for the supervision of the Agency’s Fiscal Operations staff comprised of the Accountant, PR Accounting Technician, and the AP Accounting Technician.  The Controller is responsible for the daily oversight of the Fiscal Office’s operations regarding Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Payroll. The Controller will support the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) in Agency financial matters and the safeguarding of Agency assets.  Ensuring that Agency Fiscal Policies and procedures are followed will be essential.  The Controller will regularly compile General Ledger Journal entries for entry after they have been reviewed and approved by the CFO.  Compilation of monthly, quarterly, annual, and ad hoc financial reports for the CFO, Senior Leadership, Board of Directors, and external funders will also be performed by the Controller.  The Controller will assist the CFO and Senior Leadership in the annual budgeting process and ad hoc assistance during contract budget creations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervise the Accountant and AP & PR Accounting Technicians.
  • Ensure financial reporting is prepared timely and in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting                Principles (GAAP).
  • Compile/enter General Ledger entries, General Ledger reconciliations.
  • Compile monthly, quarterly, and contract closeout reports for CFO review prior to submissions.
  • Assist the CFO with the monitoring of the financial condition of the Agency via individual review of program and regular budget meetings with Department Directors. 
  • Ensure compliance with Uniform Guidance 2 CFR 200 and Maine Auditing and Accounting Practices (MAAP).
  • Assist the CFO in the establishment and maintenance of strong internal accounting policies and procedures to ensure sound internal controls and safeguard all agency assets.
  • Become familiar with Agency contracts to learn their financial requirements, adhere to their requirements, and assist management on needed actions to ensure Federal, State, Office of Management & Budget (OMB) Circulars, and Agency policies and procedures are in compliance.
  • Organize and maintain contract files.
  • Assist the CFO with the Agency’s annual budget process while working with fiscal staff and Senior Leadership.
  • Assist the CFO, Senior Leadership, and external Audit/Monitor staff during the Agency’s annual audit and funder monitoring processes.
  • Assist the CFO in the creation of all financial statements/notes provided to the Independent Auditor, including the Federal Schedule of Awards (SEFA) and Schedule of Department Awards (SEDA), and the annual IRS 990.
  • Promote the training and development of fiscal staff to foster growth and improvement of their fiscal skills.
  • Supervise staff, to include reviewing performance of each staff person.
  • Serve as primary fiscal department contact in the absence of the CFO when posed with requests for fiscal assistance from others.

GENERAL EXPECTATIONS:

  • Financial reports to funding sources are prepared accurately and timely.

  • Cost allocations for a multi-faceted organization.

  • At least three years’ accounting experience, five plus years strongly preferred.

Located in Blue Hill, the goal of Friendship Cottage is to help seniors remain physically active and socially engaged through access to our adult day program.

DCP is seeking a full-time Director of Supportive Services. This position is responsible for the Supportive Services programs and staff, including Whole Family Coaching, Assurance 16, Maternal and Child Health Nursing, Nurse Bridging, Elder Services Navigator, Improving Outcomes for Youth (Breakthrough Youth Programming), and Financial Coaching.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Leads and manages a team of nurses, coaches, and other professionals in providing support services that help individuals and families overcome barriers and develop new skills and strategies that improve the quality of their lives.
  • Oversees and manages the CARE fund, Helping Hands Garage, and Family Development Accounts.

DCP is seeking a full-time Enrollment Specialist. This position is responsible for intake and processing of application and enrollment materials for all of the Agency’s early childhood programs. Serves as the first point of entry for all inquiries regarding access to agency programs. Ensures maintenance of enrollment, child care contract, and attendance information in database. Assists the Health Manager to ensure all health documentation for children is obtained and entered into agency database. Supports gathering health data and completing reports and documents under the direction of the Health Manager.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Exhibits a positive professional attitude with supervisor, co-workers, clients and community. Welcomes clients and encourages participation in agency programs.
  • Certifies applicants’ eligibility for all early childhood programs.  Ensures all applications are complete and requirements are met.   
  • Coordinates enrollment with centers. Distributes necessary paperwork to fiscal office and program.  Computes new fees, produces child care contracts whenever change occurs.
  • Responsible for ongoing maintenance of up-to-date database of all applications, waiting lists, enrollment data, attendance, and child care subsidies. Maintains client files and ensures compliance with all applicable regulations. Participates in gathering information in response to all state and federal client record audits.
  • Completes and submits to supervisor all appropriate reports and paperwork to be filed with funding sources and for distribution to in-house managers.
  • Assists and supports Center Coordinators regarding recruitment of Head Start children. Works closely with Center Coordinators to ensure children are enrolled in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for tracking attendance for DCP programs. Responsible for reporting attendance percentages, reasons for absences and any irregularities to the managers.
  • Keeps abreast of available childcare subsidy programs and shares with DCP’s parents, staff and childcare providers along with child care contract rules and regulations pertaining to enrollment.
  • Assists in obtaining health documents from providers and enters documents and information into database.
  • Orders and distributes health supplies for classrooms.
  • Assists Health Manager in gathering data, producing reports, and conducting follow up as needed with staff, families, and providers.
  • Responsible to report suspicions of child abuse and neglect and other licensing infractions to supervisor and appropriate authorities.
  • Attends meetings and training as approved or requested by supervisor.
  • Maintains strict confidentiality in regards to children, families, and staff in accordance with established policies and procedures.

DCP is seeking a full-time Finance Director. The Finance Director is responsible for the oversight of all agency financial matters including, but not limited to, Fiscal Policy & Procedures, the functionality of the accounting department operations, grant accounting and reporting, purchasing, addressing agency Insurance needs, and the safeguarding of all agency assets.  The Finance Director is responsible for the agency’s internal control functions, risk assessment of the agency, the encouragement of sound budgeting practices, and the agency’s annual independent audit process.  The Finance Director provides direct financial reporting to the Board of Directors and DCP Senior Leadership.  The Finance Director is a member of the Senior Leadership Team and therefore works closely with the Executive Director, HR Director, and all the Department Directors.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Direct all operations of the Finance Department to guide financial decisions and activities while directly supervising the Controller, Accountant, Accounting Technicians.

The Food Security Coordinator will become a member of VISTA’s AmeriCorps Ending Hunger Program. DCP has a janitorial position available at the Flaherty Center—116 O’Brien Avenue, Machias. This is a year-round position, 10 hours per week permanently with another 15 hours per week temporarily.

Permanent: 10 hours of cleaning are in the evening after the Center has closed for the day.
Temporary: 15 hours are during the day when staff and children are present.

  • Cleaning the entire childcare center area of the building, including classrooms, bathrooms, hallways, ramps and entryways.

DCP is seeking a part-time janitorial technician for the Ellsworth Early Care and Education Center located at 18 Avery Lane, Ellsworth. This is a year round position, 15 hours per week. Cleaning materials are provided. Hours of cleaning are in the evening after childcare has closed for the day.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform janitorial, maintenance and yard work functions at the Early Care and Education Center on a daily basis. Work needs to be completed after child care service hours.
  • Perform a thorough cleaning of the agency facility, including classrooms, hallways and entrance.
  • Gather and dispose of trash
  • Wet mop, buff, strip, wax, and polish floors as needed  
  • Clean and disinfect bathrooms
  • Shampoo rugs and furniture as directed by supervisor
  • Clean vents, fixtures, and high dust windows and doorframes
  • Move furniture and other heavy objects as required
  • Perform daily inspection of the facility and grounds for health and safety hazards, and report findings to the center coordinator
  • Maintain an adequate supply of cleaning products and paper goods in coordination with center coordinator
  • Other duties as assigned by the center coordinator.

This position offers a sign on bonus of $1,000 paid in two lump sums; half after 90 days of work and the other half after 120 days of work.

Our vehicles are easy to operate and require no special license, just a good driving record and a desire to provide safe and pleasant transportation to the people we serve.

We have an immediate need for a Program Aide at Ellsworth Early Care and Education Center, located in Ellsworth.  Responsibilities include light cleaning, laundry and providing additional support to the teaching staff.  This is a part-time position, 20 hours/week.

Location: Ellsworth, Maine

Downeast Community Partners is seeking a full-time Receptionist/Administrative Assistant to work in our Bucksport Road Office. 

Pay range: $14.70 - $16.90

The Receptionist/Administrative Assistant will be responsible for providing prompt, courteous service to clients, customers, visitors and public while on the telephone or in person regarding all services offered by DCP.  They will operate a multi-line telephone system, assist with scheduling appointments for various programs using a computer and process incoming and outgoing mail for the agency. They will provide Administrative assistance using programs such as email, Word and Excel.

Qualifications:

  • Previous positive experience with customer service via telephone and/or email as well as
  • in-person.
  • Previous experience as an administrative assistant frequently using a variety of computer programs.
  • Excellent listening skills
  • Good organizational skills
  • Compassion for and the willingness to assist those who may find themselves in need of our services.

Responsibilities:

  • Performs direct service installs
  • Installation of home weatherization materials
  • Minor carpentry repairs
  • Repairs to stop cold air infiltration
  • Associated record keeping

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Clean Driving Record (Valid Maine Driver’s License)
  • Pass a criminal background check
  • Familiar with construction power tools
  • Basic knowledge of residential dwellings and basic building science
