Downeast Community Partners is seeking a full-time Development Associate to partner with others in our Communications and Resource Development office.

The office is responsible for outreach to our clients, State and Federal granting agencies and community supporters. The Associate will take major responsibility for researching grant opportunities, preparing grant applications and creating outreach publications. The incumbent will take primary responsibility for managing our agency webpage and all social media communication on behalf of DCP.

 On-going responsibilities include:

 ·       Develop resources and publications that enhance and publicize DCP current programs directed at  educating the public, community partners, and current and potential funders;

·       Research, write, and edit grant applications;

·       Manage the DCP web page, Facebook, and all electronic communications on behalf of DCP;

·       Develop and help disseminate information internally so our employees and Board of Directors have current understanding of our programs and initiatives;

·       Prepare, proofread, and edit agency publications, annual report, newsletters, and fact sheets;

·       Primary responsibility for providing administrative support of department initiatives which might include; grant submittals and responses, DCP publications and press releases, donor lists and acknowledgement, and all agency publications.

Required experience and education- BA/BS in relevant discipline or equivalent experience. Significant experience writing and producing materials for targeted audiences utilizing print and on-line resources. Grant writing experience preferred.

Location: Flexible, Ellsworth or Machias

The primary purpose of this position is to provide job guidance, training and coaching support to classroom teaching staff who work in Head Start/Early Head Start programs.  The Coach will work in classrooms to increase teachers’ knowledge, skills and abilities in using child assessment data to connect curriculum and instruction; improve teacher/child interactions and to individualize learning to improve access and participation for the broadest range of diverse learners including children with disabilities and children from varied cultural, racial and linguistic backgrounds.  The Coach will use repertoire of skills and strategies to provide group training support as well as on-site classroom direction and individual teacher support to observe, model, demonstrate and provide reflection and feedback to teaching staff.  Schedule must be flexible and be able to travel within both Washington and Hancock counties regularly.

Qualifications -  Required:

  • Bachelors’ degree in early childhood education, early childhood special education, education leadership or related field required.
  • At least five years’ experience teaching and supervising a preschool and/or Infant and Toddler  program.
  • Understanding and experience in teaching adults including providing consultation or coaching is desired.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Work collaboratively with others.
  • Must possess a desire to continue research regarding Early Childhood Education.
  • Engage in learning about changing, new, and emerging evidence-based approaches.
  • Must work in a dynamic atmosphere and adapt to the changing needs and demands of the project.

Community Compass whose mission is “working collaboratively with community partners, building relationships to connect people in need with opportunity” is actively seeking a part time Executive Director. The successful candidate will assume responsibility in this flexible 3 day a week position to lead further development of Community Compass, particularly new community Navigators that assist their neighbors to access early childhood, parenting and basic needs resources in the Blue Hill Peninsula, Deer Isle Stonington region. The Executive Director will work for the mission of Community Compass and report to organizations committed volunteer board. Community Compass is fiscally sponsored by the 501(c) (3) non-profit Downeast Community Partners.

The successful candidate will have a passion for assisting people in need to overcome barriers. Required skills will include strong interpersonal relationship  and networking skills, partnership and community support building; organizational  efficiency and follow-up; flexibility; excellent communication including written, verbal, and public speaking; grant management; and proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel, and social media platforms.  Preference will be given to candidates with local community knowledge, with non-profit leadership experience and trauma-informed approaches to service delivery models.

Downeast Community Partners (DCP) is pleased to be a partner in an innovative, two-generation educational program for parents and children in Washington County.  Family Futures Downeast offers parents the opportunity to complete a one-year program in Family Studies at either the University of Maine Machias or Washington County Community College. DCP provides a nutritious family meal and high quality early education services and supports for the children (age 0-8) of parents who attend the program two evenings each week.

The early education program supports healthy child development through developmentally appropriate curriculum and activities provided by a staff of trained caregivers, teachers, and food service technicians.  Services are geared to the needs of infants, toddlers, preschool, and early primary school-age children.

WE ARE CURRENTLY SEEKING:

Food Service Technician, Calais – 8 hours per week; Tuesday and Thursday 3:00-7:00 PM

Infant/Toddler Caregiver for the Ellsworth Early Care & Education Program, located at 18 Avery Lane Ellsworth.

This is a full-time year round position. Our Caregivers are responsible to plan and implement, in partnership with families, a responsive curriculum and classroom environment that promotes optimal growth and development of infants and toddlers in a full-day, full-year program. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing meaningful relationships with parents and their young children that will enhance the bond between parent and child.

Education and Experience:  Must have experience working with infants/toddlers in a classroom environment and strong organization and communication skills.

Location: Hancock and Washington counties

We are seeking part-time drivers for Hancock and Washington counties. We provide transportation to low-income, elderly, as well as the general public. Our vehicles are easy to operate and require no special license, just a good driving record and a desire to provide safe and pleasant transportation to the people we serve. Flexible schedules available.

Candidate must have clean driving record, pass criminal and child protective background checks, meet drug and alcohol testing requirements, and not have an active record on the System for Award Management (SAM) website.

Location: Ellsworth Early Care and Education Center

The Ellsworth ECE center has an excellent career opportunity for those desiring to promote the growth and development of young children in a center based program. Successful candidate will be responsible for design and implementation of a program in a center-based classroom for 3-5 year-old children in conjunction with other center staff. Program Support Specialist

Summary:

The Program Support Specialist will be responsible for the coordination of systems necessary to support major components of DCP’s early childhood program. This position works with the Director of Early Childhood Programs (DECP) to support quality programming for children ages birth to five and their families. Working closely with Content Area Managers and Center Coordinators to orient staff, monitor, and carry out the program, this position also manages all data for the Early Childhood Division and provides training and technical assistance to staff regarding data collection.

Education/Training/Experience required:

·      Three to five years’ relevant experience in a non-profit or social service field. 

·      Demonstrated strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills and organizational skills. 

·      Demonstrated computers skills including database experience, Excel and Publisher. 

·      Knowledge of Head Start and early care and education preferred, but not required.

·      A Bachelor Degree in Social Services or Administration is preferred; equal consideration will be given for relevant past experience.

Family Coach

The primary function of the Family Coach is to work directly with families, often in their homes, and with support teams to assure the provision of high quality services that empower families to achieve the growth and change they seek. This is a full-time, 32 hours per week position with full benefits.

Essential Responsibilities:

Determine and administer appropriate assessments and utilize the information to create measurable goals and identify potential barriers in collaboration with families

Coach the family to develop skills in independent problem solving and functioning and discover their strengths, hopes, dreams, and priorities

Provide coaching and supervision to support team members, foster relationship with providers and others who may work directly to support the family

Develop, and modify as necessary, clear, measurable, individualized outcomes and assure compliance using a strength based approach with plan-driven timelines that support the child and families success in achieving their goals

Establish and maintain friendly, compassionate, professional working relationships with people receiving services, family members and support team in a manner that reflects our values and culture. Develop and maintain a strong network with community providers.

Maintain a high level of organization for file maintenance, daily, weekly and monthly record keeping, completing all work within established timelines. Collect and report out data as required by funding sources and needs of program for ongoing improvements.

 

Qualifications Required:

A bachelor’s degree in social work or related field from an accredited college required or equivalent experience.

Must have reliable transportation

One year’s experience in human services is preferred

Experience providing case management is preferred

Demonstrated Skills and Knowledge:

Strong communication skills to work with a diverse team

Adequate computer skills and be able to use all required hardware and systems such as Excel, Word, databases, and web based software

Must have ability to problem-solve and assist in decision-making 

Ability to work productively with individuals to develop relationships with individuals, families, and natural supports.

Proven creative abilities, strong organizational and time management skills are required

 

Location: Milbridge

The Weatherization Technician works as a part of the weatherization team, based out of Milbridge, installing measures designed to improve the energy efficiency of homes.

Responsibilities:

Performs direct service installs, including installation of home weatherization materials, minor carpentry repairs, repairs to stop cold air infiltration, and associated record keeping.

Qualifications - Required

·       HS diploma or equivalent

·       Clean Driving Record (Valid Maine Driver’s License/Driving Record)

·       Pass a criminal background check

·       Effective in a teamwork environment and committed to safety

·       Familiarity with construction power tools and basic knowledge of residential dwellings and basic building science.

·       Some overnight travel may be required within Hancock and Washington counties
